Introduction
Thank you for purchasing music hall marimba loudspeakers.
Please read this manual carefully. In addition to installation and operating
instructions, it provides valuable information that will help you get optimum
performance from your system. Please contact your authorized music hall dealer
for answers to your questions. In addition, all of us at music hall welcome your
questions and comments. Save the shipping carton and all enclosed
packing material for future use. Shipping or moving the speakers in
anything other than the original packing material may result in severe damage
that is not covered by the warranty. Be sure to keep the original sales receipt. It
is your best record of the date of purchase, which you will need in the event
warranty service is required.
Connections
All connections should be made with the amplifier switched off.
There is one pair of terminals on the back of each speaker. Ensure the positive
terminal on the speaker (marked + and colored red) is connected to the positive
output terminal of the amplifier and the negative (marked – and colored black)
to negative. Incorrect connection can result in poor performance and loss of
bass.
Placement
Use common sense when placing the loudspeakers. Always place them on a
firm, level surface. Mount the speakers on firm dedicated stands that place the
tweeters approximately at ear level. When placing the speakers make sure that
the shelf or stand can support their weight.
Position the speakers and the center of the listening area approximately at the
corners of an equilateral triangle. Keep the speakers at least 6 feet (1.5m) apart
to maintain left-right separation.
Ensure the speaker stands are firm on the floor. If you have carpet, use carpet
piercing spikes and adjust them to take up any unevenness in the floor.

Running in
Your new speakers require a little gentle use to allow their working components
to settle into their proper working condition. Do not be concerned if your new
speakers sound aggressive or lacking in bass. The sound will quickly improve
after 48 hours of use.
Fine-tuning
Before fine-tuning make sure that all the connections in the installation are
correct and secure and that the speaker has been fully run in.
Removing the protective speaker grills will provide a clearer more focused sound.
Moving the speakers from the wall will reduce the general level of bass. Space
behind the speakers also helps to create an impression of depth. Conversely,
moving the speakers closer to the walls will increase the level of bass.
If the bass is uneven with frequency it is usually due to the excitation of
resonance modes in the room. Even small changes in the position of the
speakers or the listeners can have a profound effect on how these resonances
affect the sound. Try mounting the speakers the speakers along a different wall.
Even large pieces of furniture can have an effect.
If the central image is poor, try moving the speakers closer together or toeing
them in so they point just in front of the listeners.
If the sound is too harsh, increase the amount of soft furnishings in the room.
Heavier curtains may help. Or reduce the amount of soft furnishings is the
sound is too dull.
